The 4th day of Navratri is dedicated to worship of Goddess Kushmanda Mata . - the 4th form of NavDurga.According to traditional beliefs, whoever worships mother Kushmanda with true heart on the fourth day of Navratri, attains age, fame and strength. On the fourth day of the nine-day festival Goddess Durga took the form of Maa Kushmanda. Hence, on the fourth day of Navratri, Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped.

Goddess Kushmanda is known as the creator of the universe, where Ku means a little, Ushmameans warmth or energy and Anda means cosmic egg.The term Kushmanda meaning the tiny egg refers to the cosmic act of Mother Kushmanda creating the first egg of the universe from which the entire creation emerged. She is the one who gave light to Sun God himself.
